Multimedia course

The Movement multi media pilot girls

The Movement Multimedia Course is designed to provide an introduction to the working world of media in context of The Movement project.

It gives girls aged 14 to 16 the chance to find out about career opportunities in magazine production/editing, design,  web development and advertising whilst gaining a basic understanding of the skills required for each profession.

The course is made up of fun, interactive workshops where girls get the chance to try lots of new things, including:

Magazine Production - learn about the many different processes involved in writing, designing, editing and printing a magazine and then create your very own magazine front cover.  Take part in group discussions about the media's portrayal of young women.

Photography - find out how to take good quality images, suitable for promotion.  Then, in groups, compose and shoot your own pictures.

Poster design - this workshop is ideal for girls with creative flair.  Learn about branding guidelines and apply them to your very own Movement poster design, which will incorporate your pictures taken in the photography workshop.

Web development - do you know your CMS from your HTML?  Don't worry, this course gives you the basic skills to upload web content to the Movement website - see the girls' pages listed on the left!

Advertising - ever wondered why some TV ads are more memorable than others?  Or, what some ads are even trying to sell?  We take a look at the most successful advertising campaigns on TV, online and in print and analyse why they work so well.

Check out the pages (left) of other girls who have taken part in the course.
